Welcome to Burnt Art

My name is Edward E. Montalvo (Σ Σ Μ). I live in Gurnee, IL.

Those are not Sigma's, those are my initials. I developed the shape because to me, the e's looked like m's rotated 90 degrees. Plus, it oftem gets people asking about their meaning so I think it's an ideal personal logo.
I've been making wood burnt art since November of 1999. Technically, this art form is called pyrography (literally pyro = fire, graphy = writing) but most people are familiar with the term wood burning. The purpose of this site is to allow me to post images of all the pieces I've created over the years so prospective new clients can see what I've done. I hope you enjoy them, and your comments are welcomed.

This piece #99 is my masterpiece of my daughter Jackie with my friend Rag's dog for scale. The piece took me more than 60 hours to complete and I think is probably my most impressive piece. The wood is poplar, and I used a typical soldering iron style wood burning tool.
